From Carol's email:

I adopted my Katie in July 1997. We went to Wuhan and the babies were delivered to us at the hotel. The only thing that we were told was that the babies traveled by bus to get to us and I got the impression that it was a pretty long trip for them.

In our adoption group there were 4 babies from Tongshan and 2 babies from Wuhan. We are still in touch with our travel group and all of the children are beautiful and delightful. Of course, I think Katie is the most beautiful.

I have not found anything about Tongshan Welfare Institute. I would love to see the pictures that you have, the only thing they gave us was a picture of the gate. We don't even know what the building looks like.

I knew they loved the girls very much because of the way Katie responded to my love and attention. She was and still is a very happy child, she was nine months old when I got her, weighing only 11 lbs. The nanny that held her before they gave her to me was very concerned for my Katie. She hung out in the hotel reception area for most of the day, when we would come out of the elevator she would run over and check on Katie. I think she finally believed that Katie was okay because she smiled at me the last time I saw her and I could see she was sad but relieved.

I went through China Adoption Consultants (Joyce Love).
