This is a church directory picture taken in 1986 or 1987.
The dress Mom is wearing was purchased for their anniversary. This was
the first year they left all the kids at home - Christopher was about 5 or 6
years old. They had made reservations at a tie-required restaurant in
Toledo, but when they unpacked at the hotel, expecting to change and go to their
reservation, they discovered that Pop had forgotten the hang-up clothes at home.
They ran to a department store and, hoping to keep their reservation, split
up to find the appropriate clothes. Mom bought two outfits, partly because
she couldn't decide between them, partly because she figured he owed her
something for forgetting the hanging bag.
The dress tore the first time she washed it, so we know within a fairly small
date range when it was taken.
